For a number of years V-Flow Solutions have been supplying custom built fusible link fire safety valves.
The principal is very simple; a valve is assembled to a spring pack, the spring is held pre-tensioned by link. The link is designed to melt at a given temperature, causing the valve to close instantly using the spring force.
This sounds simple enough, however there are many other important factors to consider when building such a valve. ATEX, EX hazardous area classifications, temperature ratings of valves and suitability with the media, spring power sufficient to overcome the torque of the valve…..
