Enhancements and updates to HQ Electric Actuators
We are pleased to announce a series of important upgrades to our HQ electric actuator range, which benefits the popular choice of electric actuator – the HQ008 and includes all models in the series up and and including the HQ300.
With a wide range of output torques and control options the HQ series electric actuators can be configured to meet the demands of any site specification.
Die-cast actuator body
In response to the end-of-life tooling, we are transitioning from gravity casting to die casting for the actuator bodies. This upgrade introduces a slightly revised actuator shape, along with several functional improvements.
HQ electric actuators
Benefits of the new die-cast body:
- lower internal casting lip for easier cam setting and wiring access
- reduced weight for improved handling and installation
- faster production for shorter lead times
- more consistent casting between units
- high quality finish
A: The new die-cast version is lighter due to the new method of manufacturing. The improved design also has improved access to the inside of the actuator.
B: The new die-cast version features an improved side port design. This new and improved design has a more compact, cleaner side port area.
C: The new die-cast HQ actuators have a more compact lower body/base, reducing weight.

Enhanced Corrosion Resistance
To further improve corrosion resistance, the mounting flange will now feature the same painted finish as the main housing. Additionally, the window bezel will be upgraded from a chrome plated-finish to a durable black power-coated finish.
Distinctive ATEX cover design
All ATEX actuators will now feature a square cover rather than a round one so that ATEX units can be identified quickly and clearly, with clear visual differentiation between ATEX and non-ATEX units.
Star Drive Compatibility as Standard
All actuators up to and including the HQ300 model will now come equipped with star drives as standard. This was previously only available on HQ actuators up to the HQ060. With the phasing in of this new design, Star Drive will be available for all actuators as standard.
